Why KLiCWow is focused on our community’s early learners.
When over 500 members of the Clermont County community collaborated on the “Agenda for the Future” project in 2012 and 2013, seven themes emerged as critical to the progress needed in the near future:
Parks, Nature & Recreation
Health & Wellness
Within the Lifelong Learning theme, three goals stood out:
Clermont residents and stakeholders understand the importance of, and invest in, the social and economic value of learning.
Every child enters kindergarten prepared for success in school.
Every child in Clermont County has equal access to learning that helps them succeed in school and life.
KLiCWow is an innovative community process focused on these three goals.
Our Inspired Shared Vision:
By the fall of 2018, provide a valuable free tool, a tablet, to all Clermont County Ohio children ages three & four to help them become better prepared for K-12 education.
To make all this happen, we must:
*We highly value and support our schools and our teachers and their roles in educating our children. The same is true for our preschools. We acknowledge that most of the studies done to date have focused on benefits of tablets being used with teachers. This includes studies where tablets also have been taken home. We are not taking away from these results, but rather are recognizing that (a) a substantial percentage of Clermont children do not attend preschools, (b) very few preschools offer tablets with organized teaching, and (c) most of our K-3 classes do not offer tablets with organized teaching.
KLiCWow is a community project aligned with Connect Clermont. It is a restricted fund within the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce Foundation, a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit.
