Pre-K Efforts Are The Foundation For A Lifetime

In a recent post on the official blog of the US Department of Education, a kindergarten teacher from Texas wrote that he has seen firsthand the difference that the right pre-K program makes in a children’s kindergarten success. The impact of this program extends later in life as well. The teacher states that this is why he’s passionate that access to high-quality pre-K should be accessible to children from all walks of life.

Because this stance is squarely in line with our mission at KLiCWow, we want to go over some of the major ways that educational efforts prior to kindergarten can change a child’s educational trajectory and entire life:

BUILDS PRE MATH AND LITERACY SKILLS

As the teacher who wrote the blog post and just about any other kindergarten teacher will tell you, pre math and literacy skills are essential for a positive start in school. A child who enters kindergarten with minimal knowledge about the alphabet or numbers will have to make more than one year’s growth during their kindergarten year.

It’s not always possible to make up this kind of deficit. Unfortunately, this scenario is quite common, and it only continues to get worse as a child moves from one grade to the next. Not ever having a leg up begins to create significant problems. The good news is the pre-K educational resources available via a tablet can prevent this issue.

HELPS WITH SOCIALIZING

While tablets are a key part of our program, we understand that simply handing small children tablets isn’t enough to drive real change. This effort has to be supported by others. Specifically, parental involvement in getting a child ready for kindergarten is vital. When parents get involved, it advances what’s possible with this type of program and adds an important social dynamic that will continue to benefit children throughout their development.

PREPARES FOR THE SCHOOL SETTING

Children who aren’t used to being in a learning environment can have a hard time adjusting to the structure of kindergarten. Although the environment provided by a tablet is a virtual one, it can still have a positive impact on this transition. For example, many educational apps are designed in a way that mirrors the lessons that a teacher goes through in class. With a tablet, children learn how to work their way through this type of lesson. By having that experience, they are much more likely to feel stimulated and engaged in a school setting instead of getting overwhelmed by feelings of frustration.
